How to Organize All Those Holiday Cards You Receive
I love receiving holiday cards from friends and family all over the world. One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is sitting down to open a stack of cards that has arrived in the mail.
It's a totally valid option to drop them into the recycling bin after enjoying them, so go for it if that is your style. I am proud of how we tend to not hold onto "stuff" that we no longer need (our donations tracking spreadsheet tells me that we made 11 different trips to Goodwill in the past 12 months!).
But keeping these stacks of cards does not take up too much space in our "Christmas" box and it delivers smiles year after year, so I've decided that for now we will hold onto them.
The easiest way I have found to organize them is to simply put two holes into each card using a hole punch, then use these inexpensive book rings to capture all of the cards from a given year together. I typically put our family's card on top and jot down the year in permanent marker.
See images below for what it looks like (click them to see them larger).
During the holiday season, I put past years' card rings into a basket in our living room that we look through when we have a moment.
If you keep cards from year-to-year, how do you organize them? I'd love to hear other ideas in the comments.
