How to Set Up a Home Maintenance Tracking System

Are you pretty sure you should be replacing some sort of filter somewhere in your house but aren't sure when that last happened? Or you wish you were the kind of person who actually ran the cleaning cycle on your washing machine on a regular rhythm? With a simple system, this can be you without a ton of time on your part. In this workshop, my husband Jonathon and I walk you through how we keep on top of our home maintenance — including our actual task list, the binder system we use, and the apps that support it.

How to Create Team Communications Norms

Is your team confused about what they should Slack about, email about, text about, or tag you about in a document — and when? Does everyone have different ideas about how soon they should get back to each other? In this workshop, I'll guide you through building a shared set of internal communication norms your team will actually use. We'll work through the questions every team needs to answer so you leave with a strong draft to take back to your team.

Still deciding? The Society gives you every workshop plus the full library.

Meet Jess

I'm a mom of 2, have spent decades in professional leadership roles (including ones with very tricky external dynamics and multi-million dollar fundraising needs), and I'm the kind of person who my friends go to for all the questions about home systems and what to do when work is overwhelming.

I'm a former nonprofit Executive Director who now helps organizations strengthen their teams through high-quality workshops on project management, energy management, and operational effectiveness. Through my company, Joyfully Managed Life®, I've led hundreds of workshops for nonprofits and mission-driven organizations, including Teach For America, Foundation for Jewish Camp, The Oakland REACH, National Equity Project, and the U.S. Department of Justice.

My clients consistently describe my sessions as engaging, practical, and immediately applicable. My approach is grounded in two decades of experience in the education and nonprofit sectors, where I learned firsthand that talented teams need practical systems — not just inspiration — to thrive.

I live in the Bay Area with my family and remain deeply committed to supporting the people who do the hard work of strengthening our communities.
